Consumer Alert [2 UPDATES]
27 January 2009

There have been reports that certain webhosting companies' websites are being mimicked by "script kiddies" (or wanna be crackers) in an attempt to hijack potential clients computers.

Some, if not all, of the affected webhosting companies are listed on HostLaunch. Use only the official links provided by the companies found here as the script kiddies are using previously unregistered TLD's for their exploits.

Some of the affected hosts are VectorLevel, AspirationHosting and Axigy. We fully believe these hosting companies are doing everything they can to mitigate the situation.

We also believe the script kiddies involved are attempting to piggy-back the high levels of reputation these companies have maintained.

Currently, the exploit is easily blocked. For those with the AdBlock+ extension should add "*.infobar1.info to their blacklist.

If installed, it is believe this exploit will attempt to scrape passwords and other important information from the host computer.

HostLaunch advises it's visitors to keep their anti-virus definitions up to date to avoid any problems caused by this incident.

HostLaunch prides itself in giving complete and safe information regarding webhosting companies and news. No malware links are known to be in the HostLaunch database.

Update 1:
It appears the situation has been resolved. The affected domains have either been quarantined or are no longer resolving.

Furthermore, a website copying FusedNetwork, which was targeted several months ago, is also no longer resolving.

Update 2:
Some of the websites have been relaunched as adult genre websites.  Browse with caution when not viewing '.com' or '.net' domains.
